Amphetamines can be habit-forming and should only be taken as prescribed by your doctor. If you are using this medication to treat narcolepsy, your doctor will gradually reduce the dose over time.
What should I avoid while taking this medicine?
Like other Muslim countries that follow Sharia law, the UAE has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards drug abuse. The purchase, possession, and distribution of drugs is punishable by heavy fines or jail time. The government also places a strong emphasis on family and close bonds between parents and children as a means of helping people avoid abusing drugs.
As a result, all travelers to the UAE must comply with local regulations and laws regarding medications that can be brought into the country. Medications that are classified as narcotic or psychotropic (controlled drug – class A or CDa) or other controlled medicines can only be brought into the country in a limited quantity and with a valid prescription. Travelers must pre-register their medication via a UAE government website and provide a preferably translated medical prescription and letter from their doctor before attempting to bring in any controlled medicines.
In the emirate of Abu Dhabi, a prescription for a narcotic must be written by an HAAD licensed physician for an in-patient only and must be written on the official narcotic prescription form. For psychotropic drugs (CDb), there are no special requirements and they can be ordered using a normal medical prescription.
